Southbound speed restrictions lifted between University of Denver and Colorado stations

RTD Staff

RTD has lifted southbound speed restrictions between the University of Denver and Colorado stations along the Southeast Corridor. E and H line trains have now resumed normal speeds along this outbound section of track. Speed restrictions remain in place northbound between University of Denver and Colorado stations, as well as southbound between the Colorado and Southmoor stations.

The 10 mile-per-hour speed restrictions were first implemented over the summer and remained in place until necessary maintenance work could be completed. Along the Southeast Corridor, the remaining speed restrictions are causing moderate delays in total travel time along the corridor.

Speed restrictions willcontinue to be lifted as track repair work is completed.RTD’s speed restrictions webpage has been updated, and more information and is available at d4sw.dlokoko.com/light-rail-speed-restrictions.

In May 2024, RTD began a planned inspection of all light rail track to identifypreventative issues that may need to be addressed. As the agency discovered defectsalong the rail alignment, and depending on their severity, RTD implemented speed restrictions until crews couldcomplete necessary repairs orperform maintenance work.More information about RTD’s enhanced light rail inspection process is available atd4sw.dlokoko.com/light-rail-inspections.
